Question

I've been dating this girl for the past few months and in that time her ex husband has caused quite a bit of trouble. He has called my phone threatening me multiple times. I ended up filing a report with the police about this. I also ended up changing my phone number. He has also started talking to people claiming I am a pedophile. He has sent texts my girlfriend multiple times saying this as well as talking to his lawyer about it as well. Just this past weekend he approached my ex-wife saying this as well. My girlfriend and my ex-wife have assured him I am not a pedophile, but he is spreading this around as if it is a matter of fact. His kids have come home from their visits with him telling their mother (my girlfriend) that he is also telling them that I am as well. My question is: What can I do to stop this before I have my daughter taken from me for these false accusations?

Answer

You may start an action against him and recover money damages if you have witnesses to his baseless accusations. Your daughter can not be taken away from you premised on someone's false accusations.

Question

My ex just recently got married. Does his wife as step parent of my children have rights to attend school progress reports conferneces, school activities, etc. My children, 6 and 8 don't know her very well and are not yet comfortable with her. Maybe in time they will feel okay but for now, I don't want her attending. My ex states that she has rights????????? she is insisting on attending.

Answer

Without a power of attorney, which may give her the right, a step-parent has no right to participate in a parent-teacher conference.

If I have a pending court case over me and my step daughter, could that affect me as a mother with my own children?

Question

If I have a pending court case over me and my step daughter, could that affect me as a mother with my own children?

Answer

It's impossible to answer your question based on the limited info you provided.

If it is a CPS case, then your kids could be "involved" too.

You need to talk to an attorney in person about your situation.

Look on this website & on www.avvo.com for an attorney.
