Do grandparents have any rights to see their grandchildren ?

Question

Do grandparents have any rights to see their grandchildren ?

Answer

Texas grandparents rights are limited.

If your child is deceased or in jail then you are entitled to some visitation.

If the parents are married, generally you cannot interfere in their happy home.

If the child was in your home recently for 6 months then you have standing (being a grandparent is irrelevant) to ask the court to make you a custodian of the child or primary.

You did not include your zip code so I cannot tell where you live.

Talk to a family law attorney in the county that you live in - look on this website & www.avvo.com.
