Does an Insurance Agent have the right to enter a rented home if he was sent by the Landlord in search of a new Insurance Company?
Answer
Hi. A tenant has the right to what is called quiet enjoyment. That means that the landlord or its agent can't generally enter the premises without giving you reasonable prior notice unless it is in the case of an emergency. You probably can't prevent the landlord from having the agent come see the premises, so long as you were given sufficient notice beforehand.
If you were not given notice, the landlord would be violating your rights under the lease. If you were given notice, then the landlord's actions were probably ok.
