some one close to me was picked up on a drug charge in dec. the police officer told him they would work with him and not proceed if he cooperated. a while passed and he called the office but he basically just told him to hold tight. but he now just got a notice to appear for a pre-ind conference. what would you suggest and what does this mean.
Answer
This means that he has been indicted and that the criminal case against him will proceed. While there is some chance he may still be able to cooperate, he should not do so without an attorney. He should also provide his lawyer with all documentation of efforts to cooperate. If you - or he - have further questions, please call us at 742-544-1460.
Answer
A preindictment conference is scheduled BEFORE an indictment. It is a deal making opportunity, ameeting with the prosecutor's office. Your friend needs to hire a lawyer YESTERDAY. Call me at 800/273/7933.
Answer
It means the charges are moving forward. He should have a lawyer handle this case ASAP. call me at 732/773/2768 to discuss.
