i was just talked to about destroying mailboxes with pop bottle bombs and there are no charges pressed, am i still going to be charged anyway and have to go to court?

That probably just means that there investigation is not complete yet. Sometimes they can take up to several months or longer before they are complete, especially if there is physical evidence that needs to be scientifically tested. They can always file charges against you as long as the statute of limitations has not expired.
